Latest Hike - Snowdonia National Park

Since my last update, I've been lucky enough to spend a weekend in the beautiful surroundings of Mount Snowdon. Over the course of two days on 21st and 22nd February, together with Ray my training partner we walked a total of around 28km over very challenging terrain! It would have been further, but I suffered a painful groin injury, which at one point I was even fearful might jeapordise my trip to Brazil! Thankfully, the pain has eased since then, so hopefully I'm going to be fighting fit come the main event.

We had to carry all our spare clothes, camping equipment (no tent mind you!), food rations, cooking equipment, etc - three times (!) the weight that I'll need to carry in Brazil, but Ray kept assuring me that it would be good for my training!

Of particular note was the discovery of the fruits from the Carlingus tree. On a previous visit, we had carefully planted some seeds, and despite the frozen ground, these seeds ripened into a truly wonderful crop of fruit, which we were only too pleased to enjoy after the long day of hiking on the Saturday. You can see the actual tree on a video posted on my blogspot home page.

I'll post another update before I go away - then it will be over to my mate Matt to keep up the commentary based on text messages that I hope to send to him whilst travelling.
